Getting to Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls can be reached in a number of ways. It is very easy to drive into Niagara Falls depending on where it is you live, as there are several highways that run throughout the Niagara Region. Many major cities like Buffalo and Toronto are within a one hour drive from Niagara Falls, so during the summer, traffic can get fairly heavy. The QEW and the 406 highways both lead into Niagara Falls.
If you are able to read a map well enough, the back roads of Niagara can often lead to the most beautiful places, and you just might discover something that ends up being the most memorable part of your trip.
If you are planning on taking a trip to Toronto, and want to do a day trip to Niagara Falls (although it really does warrant more than a day!), there are plenty of bus companies based in Toronto that offer trips to Niagara Falls. |

Sometimes, even if you are staying right in Niagara Falls, it is worth it to take a bus tour, because not only will you have someone shuttling you around for the whole day, but you will get to experience other parts of the region as well.

Niagara Falls can also be reached by train. Via Rail has a stop right in downtown Niagara Falls. A cab will be needed to get from the train station to the hotel area, unless you really like walking, but it not a far ride at all. Via Rail is Canada wide, so Niagara Falls could be just one of your stops on a cross country tour.
The Via Rail website will provide with more route information, as well as fare information. They have a useful feature on their website which allows you to punch in your starting point and ending point, and they will give you the time and dates that trains are running between those two points.
Another option is to fly in. Although Niagara Falls does not have an airport, the nearby cities of Toronto, Buffalo and Hamilton all have airports. If you are coming from a farther distance, it may be worthwhile to fly into one of these cities, and then rent a car to get to Niagara Falls, and then to get around the region during your vacation. You have to be 25 years or older to rent a car in Ontario. Budget, Hertz, and Enterprise are all well known car rental companies in Canada.
