Niagara Falls has something for every taste bud. Whether you are looking for a fine dining experience or somewhere to grab a quick bite, there are plenty of options to choose from here. Restaurants are hard to review however, because everybody has different tastes and expectations. The following restaurants are ones that this particular writer has eaten at, and had a good experience.

Rainforest Café

This chain restaurant is the same in Niagara Falls as it is in most other cities, but it remains a great place to take the kids. With talking animals, and simulated thunderstorms, the dining experience does not get much more exciting than this. Like most chain restaurants, the food is going to be superb, and the fact that this restaurant is right smack dab on Clifton Hill means that their prices are probably going to be a little bit higher than normal. If you have never been to a Rainforest Café, it is definitely a cool experience to check it out, and it is a great place to go to keep the kids entertained while they are eating.

Carpaccio Restaurant

This restaurant is a little away from the tourist area, but it is well worth it. It is located at 6840 Lundy’s Lane. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, and the staff is usually very friendly and attentive. The food is mainly Italian, and they are well known for their veal. The restaurant also includes a wine bar which is a good place to go and have a couple of drinks if you are not interested in eating. Skylon Tower

This restaurant is located in the tallest building in the Falls, and the restaurant actually revolves while you eat, giving you an ever changing view. The restaurant revolves slowly enough that you hardly notice it while you are eating. The restaurant revolves around one time in an hour, so you should make it all the way around throughout your meal. This restaurant is a little pricy, because you are paying for a great view of the Falls. However, the food is great as well, and you probably won’t get a chance to eat at too many other revolving restaurants in your life!

Hard Rock Café

I would recommend the Hard Rock Café (which is located at 5685 Fallsview Blvd) over Planet Hollywood. The food and service are much better. There are also tons of cool displays on the walls to browse around and look at.

Grand Buffet at Fallsview Casino

This is one great buffet! It’s $20 and it is all you can eat. Often times there is a large lineup which snakes throughout the slot machines to get into this restaurant, but it moves fairly quickly because the interior of the restaurant is so big. Make sure to try to crab legs…amazing!

Mama Mia’s

This restaurant is located on the lower floor of the Fallsview Casino, along with the food court, and several other restaurants. The prices in this restaurant are fairly reasonable given its location. The food is good, and the staff is friendly, and it is a great place to stop and have a bite in between gambling.

Zappi’s Pizza and Pasta

This restaurant located at 6663 Stanley Avenue has excellent pizza, and is reasonably priced!! This is a family friendly restaurant that has about 50 seats inside, as well as a patio outside for the summer. The menu consists of pizza, pasta and subs, and they are all delicious. This restaurant is family owned and run.

Flying Saucer Restaurant

This local hotspot has been around for years! It’s a little dingy, and definitely kitschy, but the food is good. It’s a greasy diner, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything else. Don’t go in expecting gourmet meals or anything, or the place to be spic and span, because it won’t be. If you want to try out a restaurant that everyone in the Niagara Region has been too at least once, give this place a try. It should be noted that this restaurant is built in the shape of a flying saucer, so it’s hard to miss! This diner is located on Lundy’s Lane.

Spicy Olive Bar and Grill

This place has great food, and a great atmosphere. If you are there later at night, they usually have awesome local bands for entertainment! This restaurant is located at 5026 Centre Street. This restaurant is also quite reasonably priced in comparison to other restaurants in the area.

Falls Manor Motel and Restaurant

This restaurant located at 7104 Lundy’s Lane has some of the best chicken going! This restaurant is another local favourite, and has been around for years. This place is extremely homey, and the prices are very reasonable.

Café Verde

This vegetarian restaurant, located at 4555 Queen St, is right in the heart of the arts district of Niagara Falls. It is very reasonably priced, and is often full of local artists and musicians.

There are so many restaurants in Niagara Falls that it would be difficult to write about everyone of them. I have personally been to all of these restaurants, so I know that they are good. Niagara Falls is also full of chain restaurants that usually have consistently good food like Montanas, Boston Pizza, Tony Romas, Kelsey’s, TGIFridays, and Ruby Tuesdays (plus many more).

Tips:

Many of the restaurants in the tourist area are very pricey. To save some money, it might be worth it to take a trip to one of the local grocery stores, and stock up on easy things to carry in a backpack for quick lunches. This could not also save money, but time, as you can eat whenever you want, and there are lovely parks almost everywhere to enjoy a picnic in.

It is a well known local fact that most places in the Falls overcharge people for bottled water. To avoid that, buy a case of water to keep in your hotel room, or purchase water from a Tim Hortons, one of the only places it is reasonably priced.

Niagara Falls the city is referred to colloquially in the Niagara Region as simple “The Falls”.
